Slamming Union Cabinet Minister Smriti Irani for making false claims about Delhi government and MCD funds payouts, senior AAP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia, on Friday said that the union minister is lying about delay in funds on behalf of the Delhi Government, whereas the scarcity of funds in MCD is due to the corruption by BJP leaders in power there. Delhi Government has always released funds on time. BJP leaders are sure they will lose MCD elections this year, hence they are crying over funds and making excuses to postpone the election dates. He added that Smriti Irani must tour the national capital to know how BJP leaders in MCD have left Delhi in filth.
While addressing the media, he also added that Smriti Irani must tell the country why and how the BJP threatened the Delhi EC for postponing MCD elections. “Was it a threat by the CBI or the ED?” he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, “The people of Delhi gave 15 years to BJP to develop Delhi but BJP leaders did not perform their duties well. Now when the people of Delhi are done with their corruption and want the Aam Aadmi Party to take charge of MCD as well, BJP leaders are scared and making excuses. They are falsely blaming the Delhi government for not releasing funds in time and trying to postpone the election dates. I must tell the Union Minister Smriti Irani here that scarcity of funds in MCD is due to the corruption of BJP leaders sitting in power there. They must count their days in MCD now, because residents of Delhi are now fed up with the misdeeds of BJP in the corporation.”
Shri Sisodia said, “The BJP should accept that they have ruined MCD with the corruption and stop crying over funds like Congress. BJP leaders are scared of losing the elections in MCD this year, hence crying over funds and making excuses to postpone the elections. By hook or by crook they are pressurizing the state EC to put election dates on hold.”
He added that Smriti Irani lives in Delhi and knows very well about the capital. “She must take a tour of Delhi now to know how BJP leaders in MCD have left Delhi in filth. They never focused on sanitation and hygiene of the capital and welfare of the residents. Once you take the tour of Delhi, you will know that BJP has no chances of winning MCD elections this year,” said the AAP Senior Leader. Lashing out at the Union Minister, Shri Sisodia said that this step by EC and BJP has weakened the democracy in the country.
