BJP must apologise to every Delhiite for its role in fuelling the Delhi Riots: Durgesh Pathak

NEW DELHI:

The Aam Aadmi Party severely tore down the BJP’s two-facedness and politics of hate on Thursday. Senior AAP Leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak launched an attack against the BJP and said that the party isn’t just an Anti-Muslim organisation but an equally Anti-Hindu one too. He stated — the Kejriwal Government has fulfilled its promise of giving a government job to the brother of the Delhi Riots Victim Late Ankit Sharma’s brother even though he worked with Centre’s IB. The BJP must tell why the Centre did not offer his family a job when Ankit Sharma worked for their agency. BJP leaders were shedding crocodile tears during the riots; Ankit Sharma was a Hindu, why did they not help his family? BJP spreads hate, makes Hindus & Muslims fight for political gains. The BJP must apologise to every Delhiite for its role in fuelling the Delhi Riots.

Shri Pathak said, “The people of Delhi are still dealing with the aftermath of the riots which occurred in the beginning of 2020. Back then we saw the kind of damage, death, and destruction we had never seen before. Everyone is aware that there was a very thought-out and structured plan conspired by the BJP behind the Delhi pogrom, to politically benefit from these riots that they incited. It is unfortunate that since those horrific days, the BJP and its leaders have disappeared from the public eye. None of the people that faced major losses, injuries, death or property destruction during these riots were offered any form of help from the BJP or the Central Government. The only assistance and support they received was from the Kejriwal Government. The Delhi Government under the leadership of Shri Arvind Kejriwal identified each and every house of the people affected, and sent teams door to door in order to provide aid to as many ill-impacted people as it could. We can obviously not make up for the loss of lives that some families faced, but serving the duty of a responsible government leader and a big brother, Shri Arvind Kejriwal stood alongside the people in need throughout the infamous pogrom. “

He added, “We used to believe that the BJP harbours staunch hatred for the Muslim community, so there is no way it will step up to help them, and we hoped that it would at least help the Hindu community out. However, it is shameful and unfortunate to know that even in the name of their Hindu brothers and sisters, they have indulged in petty politics for their own gain and did not help a single person affected during the riots. You must remember Ankit Sharma, a brave IP officer, who was also a dear friend of mine, and whose family I am well acquainted with. He lost his life during the Delhi riots. It has been over two years since the we experienced the unfortunate loss of Ankit Sharma, but his family has not been contacted for help in any form or manner by the BJP. No leader from their party has come forward to support the grieving family members. The only people who stood by the family during their mourning time was CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and his government. He also ensured that the family received a financial assistance of Rs. 1 crore.”

Shri Pathak continued, “We can’t bring back Ankit Ji but CM Arvind Kejriwal acted like an elder brother. Today, he has fulfilled the promise he had made. He had assured his family of a suitable government job and today, his younger brother Ankur Sharma has been provided the same. God knows how many such families were ruined because of the riots but I know one thing, CM Kejriwal came forward and supported everyone who was affected by the riots. I want to ask the BJP, which claims to thrive on Hindu machismo — why did you not help Ankit Sharma’s family, he was a Hindu too? Why did your leaders not help the community apart from making hateful tweets and visiting an odd home or two? The BJP and all its leaders should be ashamed. You should apologise to the whole community. The Hindu community should be aware of BJP’s hateful vengeance. They need to open their eyes and see how the BJP is making their children fight with each other for its own gain. They don’t want to protect anyone, they only want to remain intoxicated with their lust for power.”

He further stated, “Ankit Sharma was in the IB. IB is a central body. The BJP itself rules upon the Centre. The Centre should’ve offered a job to his kin. But let alone the offer, his family stood in front of the IB office in scorching heat but couldn’t get anyone to look at their pain. The BJP is not only against the Muslims, they equally hate the Hindus too. They see no religion, they just want to spread hate, cause violence and leverage that into winning elections. When BJP leaders come and ask for votes in the religion, they must be asked what they did for the family of Ankit Sharma. When they try to spread hate, ask them why the Centre did not help him. The BJP can spend Rs 500 crores on building an office for its leaders but it can not even spare a minute for its voters.”
