On Tuesday, Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain met with Dr. Sanjeev Kumar’s family, who died while on duty during the pandemic. Along with this, a cheque for Rs. one crore was handed over to the family by the Delhi Government. During this, Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain said — Dr. Sanjeev Kumar was working as a pediatrician at Maharishi Valmiki Hospital. While serving people in the hospital, he got infected with coronavirus and after being hospitalised for 10 days, he was martyred. Even though the ex-gratia amount will not be able to compensate for the loss caused to the families, I hope that the family will get some help from this amount. Many Corona warriors lost their lives while serving humanity and society. We heartily salute their hard work and their zeal to fight the pandemic. The Delhi government has so far given a Samman Rashi of Rs. one crore each to the families of 37 corona warriors who lost their lives due to corona infection while serving the people during COVID.

The Health Minister assured all possible help to the family

Shri Satyendar Jain reached Paschim Vihar to meet the family of Corona Warrior, the late Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, today. Health Minister Satyendar Jain met with the entire family of Dr. Sanjeev Kumar and consoled them, assuring them of all possible help, if needed, in the future too. He said that Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, who was a pediatrician at Maharishi Valmiki Hospital, died on March 3, 2021, due to a corona infection. Although we cannot put a price on his life , this amount given by the Delhi government will help in meeting some of the needs of his family. On behalf of the Kejriwal Government, we are giving only one crore as financial assistance to his family so that they can get some relief from this amount. This scheme of the Delhi government gives confidence to the families of Corona warriors that the government and society are always with them.”

The Delhi government is always ready to help the Corona Warriors

Shri Satyendar Jain said that in order to serve the public amid the Corona epidemic, doctors, nurses, and employees provided 24 hour services for the treatment of patients, by keeping a distance from their relatives. Meanwhile, many corona warriors themselves got corona infected and lost their lives. “I pray to God that their souls rest in peace. The families of the Corona warriors who lost their lives in the pandemic have been assured that the Delhi government is always with them to help them. We would like to express our gratitude to all our Corona Warriors who have served the people without caring about their lives,” he said.

About Corona Warrior: Dr. Sanjeev Kumar

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Paschim Vihar, Delhi, was a pediatrician at Maharishi Valmiki Hospital. He did duty with full responsibility during the Corona period. Even during the lockdown, he extended his outstanding services to the people living in the containment zone and home quarantine. Meanwhile, he got coronavirus-infected. He was admitted to the hospital due to sudden deteriorating health. Despite being in the hospital for about 10 days, the doctors could not save his life. Due to difficulty in breathing and persistent fever, his breathing stopped on 3 May 2021. He is survived by his wife and two children.
