The formation of the cadre will help in regularizing services of doctors who have been working for the last 23 years as well as facilitate new recruitment: Satyendar Jain
Dentists all over Delhi have expressed gratitude and appreciation over Kejriwal Government’s move to form a dental surgeon cadre to strengthen the dental healthcare system
NEW DELHI:
In an extension of its efforts to strengthen the overall health infrastructure in Delhi, the Kejriwal Government has given approval for the formation of a cadre for the Dental Surgeon Service Rules. This cadre of dental surgeons is the first of its kind in the country. With the introduction of this cadre, the doctors who had been providing their services in various hospitals in Delhi on a temporary basis will now be regularised. This will also facilitate the recruitment of new doctors regularly.
Health Minister listens to the demands of Dental Surgeons
Dental surgeons have been demanding the formation of such a cadre for many years. The dentists were provisionally appointed in 1998 while the dental cadre rules were formed nearly 23 years after their recruitment. In the meanwhile, these dentists have been working with full sincerity and dedication to serving the people in various hospitals across Delhi. The delegation of dentists had repeatedly voiced their demands in front of governments in the past regarding the formation of the dental surgeon cadre but to no avail. After the Kejriwal Government came to power in Delhi, Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain held a meeting with a delegation of dental surgeons and listened to their concerns. Following that, in 2018, the Health Minister directed the formation of a committee to strengthen dental health services. Eminent members of this committee which include Dr. Zaheeruddin, Dr. Harpreet Grewal, Dr. Anil Mittal and Dr. Vinkrant Mohanty, all thanked Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain. He said, “A wave of happiness has overtaken the dental community with this initiative of the Delhi government. They will now be regularised after working for 23 years.”
Dental surgeon cadre expressed their gratitude to the Health Minister
The Dental Surgeon cadre arrived at the residence of Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain on Friday to express their gratitude. They thanked Health Minister Satyendar Jain by offering flowers. Shri Satyendar Jain said that the Kejriwal government has recently approved the formation of a cadre for ‘Dental Surgeon Service Rules’. The delegation of dental surgeons thanked the health minister for this. Shri Satyendar Jain said, “This move will help in regularizing the services of doctors working for the last 23 years and regular new recruitments. With this, the process of transferring and posting will also be made smooth in the future.”
Kejriwal Government fulfilled decade long dream of the dental community
The dental surgeons said, “Till now there was no such cadre in Delhi. Due to the sincere intentions of the Kejriwal government to serve the people of Delhi, the demand raised by the dental surgeons for over two decades and the dream of the formation of a cadre have been fulfilled. We are grateful to the Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain, and all the officers of the department for the formation of the Dental Surgeon cadre. The decision to create a dental surgeon cadre aimed at strengthening the dental health system in the capital on the lines of the Delhi Allopathic Cadre Rules 2009 is highly commendable.”
At present, the doctors of Central Health Services have very little knowledge about the problems being faced by the state government. The formation of a cadre will help in bridging this gap. Apart from this, there will be a significant improvement in technical leadership and management both at the central and state level. The dental specialists included in the cadre will play a vital role in strengthening the health services, and the recruitment of dentists will also be done in a direct manner in future.
