Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has bought four acres of land in Alibaug in the name of his wife Ritika Sajdeh. According to the report, Rohit Sharma along with his wife Ritika and two other persons completed the registration formalities at the Alibaug sub-registrar office on Tuesday. Rohit, who was ruled out of the Test series against South Africa due to injury, traveled to Saral Mhatroli village, about 20 km from Alibaug city, to register.
New Delhi. Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma on Tuesday took possession of four acres of land bought in the name of his wife Ritika Sajdeh in Alibaug. Rohit along with Ritika and two other persons completed the registration formalities at Alibaug sub-registrar office on Tuesday (November 14). Rohit Sharma is not the first cricketer to buy land in Alibaug. Alibaug also has properties of cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ravi Shastri and Ajit Agarkar.
Rohit Sharma is out of the upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa, which begins on December 26. For this series, the Indian team has taken flight today i.e. on 16 December. Rohit Sharma had to be ruled out of the series due to the left hamstring, which he suffered during the practice session. Rohit Sharma is now likely to travel to South Africa next month when the Indian team plays a 3-match ODI series in January.
Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian ODI team. This is going to be India’s first ODI series under his captaincy. Rohit has been made the ODI captain of the Indian team on 8 December. Earlier, after leaving the T20 captaincy of Virat Kohli, he was also made the captain of the T20 team. According to the Indian Express report, the 34-year-old cricketer allegedly traveled to Saral Mhatroli village, which is about 20 km from Alibaug town.
According to this report, Alibaug Deputy Registrar Sanjana Jadhav said, “It is true that Rohit Sharma came to our office on Tuesday in connection with the land deal. But we cannot confirm whether he has bought this land or the person accompanying him.”
The village’s sarpanch Amit Naik said that the land that Rohit has bought is about four acres and its market value is around Rs 9 crore. He also said that this is Rohit Sharma’s first visit to the village. The sarpanch said, “The land was bought in the name of his wife. He completed the registration formalities at the sub-registrar’s office and then reached the village to perform a small puja.”
Vikram Seth, a man living in Alibaug said, “The land seller is an acquaintance of mine. I have signed the property deal as a witness. I have also known Rohit for the last 10 years. He has bought land in the name of his wife. Two lawyers were also present on this occasion. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will be eager to regain fitness for the ODI series, as it will be his first assignment as India’s full-time white-ball captain. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how he performs in the new role.
