AAP demands an independent enquiry into the matter; Adesh Gupta must be sacked from his post of MCD Councillor and Delhi BJP President immediately

AAP’s North MCD Leader of the Opposition Shri Vikas Goel spoke out against the corruption of Delhi BJP State President Adesh Gupta at a meeting of the North MCD today. LOP Shri Vikas Goel brought up the matter of Adesh Gupta’s unauthorised encroachment of land in Karol Bagh. He sought the Mayor to discuss the issue in the house, but the BJP leaders, as usual, refused to allow the discussion to take place. The Aam Aadmi Party urged a proper investigation into the situation, as well as the immediate expulsion of Adesh Gupta from his position as Delhi State President and membership in the Corporation, at the meeting.

Shri Vikas Goel stated, “A meeting of the North MCD was held today in which I urged the mayor that the matter of the MCD land that BJP State President Adesh Gupta had illegally occupied should be discussed. However, it is regrettable that they entirely ignored the matter. They began raising slogans on other issues, as they often do, and refused to allow a discussion on this issue. Because the BJP is in charge of the MCD, they are bound to act on it but there has been no debate or action on it.”

He added, “Posters of BJP State President Adesh Gupta have been plastered throughout Delhi. The fact that Adesh Gupta has illegally appropriated the corporation’s land is inscribed on them. There was a school of MCD in front of Adesh Gupta’s house where he carried out illegal construction work. Even the High Court had issued a notice to Adesh Gupta for illegal construction. Adesh Gupta, on the other hand, has remained silent on the subject. There has also been no investigation or action taken against him.”

He further said, “What is to say about the rest of the councillors if even the top leadership of the BJP’s Delhi unit is implicated in corruption? The BJP officials in power in the corporation have sensed their impending defeat in the corporation’s approaching elections and have begun seizing the corporation’s lands as well as engaging in corruption by selling the company’s properties at low rates. As the Leader of Opposition, I have sought a thorough investigation into this incident, as well as Adesh Gupta’s removal from the role of Delhi State President and membership in the corporation.”
